Hello Everyone!

Do it!

You are probably wondering by now, “Veronica, are you okay? Where did you go?”

I’ve been a busy gal! I am in the process of buying STASH Needle Art Lounge here in Calgary and it has taken up a lot of my time and energy. As a result my poor blog has been severely neglected.

But fear not! I am revamping the STASH website and soon it will include a wicked awesome blog for you to enjoy!

As soon as the new site is live I will post again here in a reduced capacity and will also encourage you to check out the new site. Until then thank you for reading Thrift Gypsy, and stay tuned for more blog info.

All the best, V

Ornament Madness is Set to Begin…

Lookout world, because we are about to break out our crazy collection of of christmas ornaments!

I am going to warn you, our collection has recently shifted from large to ridiculously large. So large in fact that I have broken them into categories: Victorian ornaments, pine cones & clusters, figures & heads, pipes & horns & vases, Japanese occupation era, cones, pointies, mercury glass animals, indents, and large fancies.

These plain rounds are grouped in a pleasing spectrum to ease you in, but don’t let the pretty colours fool you – you are about to be ATTACKED by shiny ornamentalism!

I heart Jill Barber

I had a hot date with Superman and went to see Jill Barber at the lovely Knox United Church (turning 100 years old in  2012)…

View from the balcony

Our seats were great, considering they were pews…

Check, Check, one two...

Can this girl croon! It was an excellent performance, so charming. To top it off she had her latest album on vinyl.

Beautiful dress, beautiful voice!

Pillow Talk

Lately I have been enjoying sewing, and I even picked up a bit of new fabric to complement the vintage stash that I’ve been hoarding for a rainy/snowy day.

This is my prototype pillow that I hope to crank out for the Christmas fairs in early December:

How does one conduct a reindeer opinion poll?

9 out of 10 reindeer agree that this pillow casts them in a favourable light, and that this pillow would handsome in any home. They also commented on the satisfying contrast between the cozy flannelette backing and the vintage styled front. Who knew that reindeer had such an eye for detail?

One reindeer also expressed an interest in seeing the back of the pillow in a red plaid. Touche, tasteful reindeer, touche.

Gettin’ my Knit-on!

Whew! Getting my knit-on for two Christmas Fairs in December! There isn’t anything more satisfying to a knitter than a pile of finished projects…

A plethora of pom poms and points...

My specialties this year are pom hats and gnome hats knit with a super chunky yarn – all vintage yarn stock!

Cozy Cables

My little model here is showing off my latest knitting pattern creation – the Baby Cable Hat. She was so tuckered out from the walk in the park that I couldn’t bring myself to wake her! Let us admire those pretty eyelashes!
